a new world of computing soon to begin …

Just when you thopught you understood the current computer technology we all use, along comes this mind-boggling new science to upend everything. Impossible sounding figures for doing calculations with qubits.

[…] By the time you get to 300 qubits, you’ve got a computer that can do more “calculations” than there are atoms in the universe.

That’s why the blog TechTarget described quantum computing this way: “Development of a quantum computer, if practical, would mark a leap forward in computing capability far greater than that from the abacus to a modern day supercomputer, with performance gains in the billion-fold realm and beyond.”

Read about the science and technology, and the implications for the future.

Thanks wazsah, I hadn’t seen it, but I have been abreast of the issues here, especially the song cycle from Coulomb Point to Broome. Goolarabooloo has been traveling this song-line with many paying visitors, mostly from Victorian Universities, and MIT, for over 25 years, learning about the traditional connections to the route. About 3 to 4 times a year, a large group walk the 60km+ songline, catered for by the group.
