the Great Sandy Desert environment …

Colourful, thriving plant species inhabit one of the hottest driest regions in Australia. Any town garden would be admired featuring a similar landscape. With 50C days in summer and freezing nights in winter, the ecology stands tall facing tough conditions.

Situated about 200km from Broome, the Sandy Desert is mostly a part of the Pilbara region which has the Little Sandy Desert at it’s southern boundary.

The Edgar Range above is the northern limit to the Great Sandy Desert.
