Hello Frack Free Kimberley community!
Another year has passed and we are happy to report that there has NOT been any fracking by Buru’s at the headwaters of the Roebuck Plains, although unfortunately they did frack at the Valhalla and Asgard wells to the east near Noonkanbah. But next year it might be different, so from now on you’ll be seeing more emails from me, to keep you up-to-date and ready to spring into action when required.
This time there’s quite a bit of good news and some dates for your diary.
- At the annual ALP Conference, delegates voted for A MORATORIUM ON FRACKING which means that, if elected in 2017, the ALP would hold a public inquiry into gas fracking, and place a ban on any further gas fracking development until it can be shown that fracking will not compromise the environment, groundwater, public health or contribute adversely to climate change. Yeehah!
I wont bore you with the rest.
The Labor’s decision to ban frakking will come to bite them hard. The Green Blob are cheering Labor on of course, I hope the truth bites when the next election cycle drops the left further into irrelevant territory, with Shorten likely to face legal challenges before then and the Green’s leader Di Natale, the less said the better.
There’s been a fair bit of frakking in the Canning superbasin SE of Broome and is set to continue. That space is wide open, with no towns or settlements anywhere near. Valhalla and Asgard wells have been frakked without any issues it appears. Yet Labor still pushes it’s carbon and climate change agenda as the main reason to stop fracking. Lunatics.
