“The Cook, the Thieves, his Wife, her Lovers” … “Who Is Michael Smith?”

This weekend sees a sea-change in the reporting of the Gillard AWU scandal. State Premier threatened, Companies blackmailed, Drill rigs pirated, Explosives stolen, and it’s the same cast of characters involved in all the stories by Hedley Thomas and Michael Smith in this weeks The Weekend Australian.

Numbers involved include top politicians, companies and unions, law firms, and bureaucrats.  This political thriller, of crime, sex, deceit and intrigue is a plot that just could not be made up.

There are Judges, Commissioners, Prime ministers, Premiers and Ministers involved. Union leaders, bikies, businessmen and lawyers too. Then there’s Michael Smith:

I guess she now has no doubt! Smithy’s first two scalps go for sentencing next week, Williamson and Thomson, and a new target is found, Opposition Leader Bill Shorten’s lawyer.
