Green Kimberley … election news

The fall-out for the seat of Kimberley in Saturday’s election will be felt for a long time. A number of incidents relating to advertizing were uncovered too. The ruling Party deceived the Broome Community with a front page wrap around that made out to be a news item.

Here is the answer after the Greens out-polled all other parties in the Town of Broome but still has to wait for distribution of preferences to get a result. The Greens are in with a chance, which is unprecedented.

Save The Kimberley‘s photo.
The day before the WA elections in the Kimberley seat, the local Broome newspaper was "wrapped" in a Liberal-Party paid advertorial with headlines and copy mirroring the newspapers normal news content. It apparently wasn't illegal. Just misleading... mischievously so. Mischievous but with humour, is this dummy newspaper front page from the team that used shoestring resources but plenty of pluck, to strongly buck the election result trend everywhere else in the State. Not a bad suggestion for next week's newspaper content given the Kimberley seat overnight remained a close call?! The only candidate publicly and loudly opposing the proposed JPP gas hub, Chris Maher, has received a strong primary vote. More fun in the days ahead as the vote count continues?
