When I first saw the article that sea levels were soaring in Perth, my first thought was, “that’s so dumb”. So I suggested they look at the coastal plain which was actually sinking.
Pumping groundwater has caused many cities around the world to subside, suggest as in the Mediterranium and the East Coast of the US.
Finally, the news cycle catches up, Warwick Hughes explains it all:
